Oxford EARTH holds Stakeholder Workshop to help shape future research

Oxford EARTH held a two-day stakeholder workshop in Oxford on 16 to 17 June 2026. 

The purpose of the workshop was to inform and shape the research agenda of Oxford EARTH as a world-leading, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research programme focused on equitable access to sustainable resources and natural resource innovation. 

The forum brought together a small group of senior leaders, experts, policymakers, and practitioners from across government, academia, industry, and the third sector to: 

• identify knowledge gaps and define strategic, high-impact research priorities 

• explore transformative ideas and bold, system-level approaches and solutions 

• strengthen cross-sector and interdisciplinary collaborations 

• challenge assumptions and holistically reframe narratives 

• build a long-term, sustainable stakeholder community 

Designed to encourage respectful but rigorous dialogue and thoughtful exchange, the workshop created an environment for open discussion across sectors and disciplines. Discussions focused on sharing perspectives, reflecting on existing issues and challenges, uncovering emerging evidence, and determining priorities for future collaboration and action. 

Oxford EARTH researchers are now drawing on the insights gathered to produce an updated research agenda and strategy.
