Dr Orion Farr is an experimental geochemist and materials scientist at Oxford EARTH. His research explores how semiconducting minerals mediate electrochemical transformations relevant to CO2 capture, critical resource recovery, and Earth's early chemical evolution. A central focus is green rust, a multi-valent iron mineral whose ability to couple electron and proton transfer makes it a unique model for understanding mineral-driven redox chemistry. By combining electrochemistry, mineral synthesis, and spectroscopy, he works at the interface of Earth science and materials chemistry to develop nature-inspired technologies for a net-zero future.
